For two days this week, I was looking after a great group of good Northern Irish folk, in the main from Derry, on a short visit to Scotland in November for an architectural tour, really in connection with the proposed refurbishment of a property of their own in Derry, to see various Scottish examples.
Under the leadership of my architect Brother James, visits were organised to Strathleven House near Dumbarton, Penicuik House in Midlothian, Gunsgreen House in Eyemouth, Berwickshire, Lamb House in Leith, Edinburgh, the Botanic Cottage in Edinburgh, Mavisbank just outside Loanhead in Midlothian, and lastly Blackburn House in West Lothian.
They were a lovely group, with the esteemed historical architect Alistair Rowan, from Dublin, to the fore.
